What counts as a Subscriber?
A subscriber is only counted when someone new subscribes to your email list. There are two ways this could happen:
New customer: A net new customer, where a new customer record is created and then subscribed.
Existing customer who isn't subscribed: An existing customer that was NOT a subscriber is updated to be a subscriber.
Below is more detail on each.
New customers to your Shopify database
Shopify requires an email address to create new customers, so all users who enter your campaign and subscribe to your list by entering their email address will be added to Shopify as new customers.
All new customers added will have the 'Accepts email marketing' flag on, which means they will receive your email marketing sent from Shopify or any email marketing tool that syncs with Shopify.
Existing customers in your Shopify database
If a user enters their email address and already exists in your Shopify database we will update the customer record with the 'Accepts email marketing' flag, which means they will receive your email marketing sent from Shopify or any email marketing tool that syncs with Shopify.
