When using a quiz to collect subscribers, POPSMASH will save new subscribers to Shopify Customer profiles (creating or updating existing profiles as needed) by default.

These newly created/updated Customer profiles will also have the 'accepts marketing' flag on so they will receive your email marketing communications and automatically sync to any CRM or marketing service that integrates with Shopify.

How to turn Shopify email contact updates on or off

We sync opt-ins to Shopify by default, but you can turn it off in the Settings section of your quiz.

If this setting is turned off, we will no longer sync to Shopify profiles, but opt-in data will still be saved as part of your quiz submissions, so you can export the data in CSV format.

Integrations: Sync quiz opt-in data to other apps

We automatically save quiz opt-ins to Shopify Customer profiles (described above) with the 'accepts marketing' flag. So, as long as your email marketing service or other integration syncs with Shopify, it should work with POPSMASH and receive all subscribers who opt into your quiz. How contact creation & update decisions are made

When Shopify opt-ins are turned on, we update or create customer profiles with 'accepts marketing' turned on. In full transparency, here's the decision tree determining what updates and when.

How email contact validation works

We validate email opt-ins to ensure you only get high-quality contacts added to your list. Our validation at the point of entry is in addition to any measure you have in place with your email marketing providers.

There are two levels of validation based on which plan you have: Basic and Advanced.

Basic email validation

Basic validation is included in all plans and tries to automatically catch and correct basic mistakes and formatting issues that would otherwise reduce your list quality with invalid contacts.

Examples of Basic validation (included on all plans):

These validation measures automatically detect and correct many of the most common issues to keep your list quality high.

Advanced email validation

Advanced validation in our higher plans attempts to prevent disposable email addresses and phone numbers from getting used.

This extra validation goes further to help you establish relationships with real customers, not fake contact data from bots, scammers, and other low-quality contacts.

For example, it attempts to automatically block disposable email addresses like example@fakeemail.com.

Advanced email validation is included in our Growth plan and higher.
